Create an Event

The Run is a grassroots National movement for natural medicine – not just a local happening.  In order to do this, your help is needed to organize and host events in your town.  There is no set standard of what an event might look like – could be any sort of venue or event that suits the community’s needs. Please see bottom of page (or itinerary for un-highlighted cities) for cities that we still need planners.

Below are some ideas of where to start and examples of what other cities are planning:

Regional Forum/Fair: Keynote speaker(s), natural health workshops, music, expo with booths (practitioners and vendors), cooking demonstrations and food sampling (raw, gluten-free, and whole foods, etc). Think BIG and celebrate natural medicine!

Fundraiser Dinner/Lunch: Keynote speaker(s), natural medicine topics, high-end/nutritious meal, silent auction (the run paraphernalia, supplements and services donated), table sponsorships, individual tickets sold.  This type of event could be strategic for influencing policy or legislation.   Funds raised will be used for expenses of The RUN and/or a pre-approved cause.

Local “Piggyback” Event: Identify an existing local event that lends itself to celebrating The Run as it passes through. Host an informative booth/activity at the Farmer’s Market, local running event, fall festival, or health fair.

Educational Experience: Special speaker in an auditorium to deliver the message of naturopathic medicine.  With question & answer session and receptions before and after event for VIPs.

School Guest Speaker: Runners, Dr. Dennis Godby, N.D., Isaiah Godby (20) and Jonas Ely (21), will talk with students of all ages regarding long distance running, training, nutrition, goal setting and taking action. A local naturopath will provide insight on “the sustainable health care choice” for teens.

Personal Cause: Design an event around your own health concern (menopause, cancer, diabetes, e.g.) or health care topic of your choice.  Provide a forum for alternative approaches, networking, and testimonials and success stories.  Host a panel of experts, offer a variety of differing treatment options and the latest research in an area of medicine

Here are just a few samples of events taking shape so far.
Our hope is that by sharing these exciting plans, you will be inspired to include additional strategies in your planning and that you will share your event details with others who are still in the early planning stages.
